Jules Verne : Nemo kapitány – 20 000 Leagues Under the Sea

Jules ​Verne a tudományos témákról írt kalandregényeivel megteremtette a tudományos-fantasztikus regény műfaját. Első regénye, az Öt hét léghajón (1862) sikere írásra ösztönözte. A Nemo kapitány(eredeti címe: Húszezer mérföld a tenger alatt) folytatásokban jelent meg 1869-70-ben. A tengeri élőlények és helyszínek leírásai meghökkentően pontosak, csakúgy, mint az akkor csupán az író képzeletében létező találmányoké, mint az elektromos tengeralattjáró vagy a búvárruha.

Jules Verne wrote classic adventure novels of a scientific nature, in which he creates stories of science fiction. Following on from the success of Five Weeks in a Balloon (1862), he carried on producing fantastic adventure books. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was published in installments in 1869 and 1870. His descriptions of so many marine creatures and landscapes are suprising, as are the inventions which as yet did not exist, or which he improved on with his imagination, such as electric submarines and diving suits.
